Vestards Šimkus X Endless Roar: Art needs space LP collaboration

Vestards Šimkus X Endless Roar: Art needs space LP collaboration

It was wonderful to be a part of creating this unique record. Grateful to Vestards Šimkus for inviting Arvydas Kazlauskas and I to record a piece to appear on it. The resulting album is a collection of pieces by musicians inspired by a collection of paintings. The painting which we were assigned was named "Mūzika" by Māris Ārgalis. Arvydas (left), Vestards (centre), Jachin (right), with the painting "Mūzika", pictured at the recording session. More about this special project

"Tropos" for chamber orchestra and EEG premieres

The piece "Tropos" incorporates real-time EEG visualisation of a performer (me on drumkit) in an orchestra setting. Pictured above is the 2nd performance of Sinfonietta Riga's program "From rock arena to concert hall" in Ventspils, Latvijas Koncertzale. Data streamed live from an EEG device attached to my head was used to generate a visual representation of my brainwaves as the piece unfolds. A composer's emotions are a raging firestorm during a performance of one's own work.
